An African Safari Vacation

Safari’s in Uganda

Going on safari in Africa is a vacation like no other. Our fantastic landscape and wildlife will leave you with memories that will stay with you forever. Whether you are back-packing alone or travelling with your family, there is an African safari experience for you.

Uganda has so much to offer the safari adventurer. You can see a huge range of mammals, primates and birds on a backdrop of stunning landscapes and geographical landforms. And Ziwa has established itself as an essential part of any Uganda safari tour. It is the only place in Uganda where you can see the African White Rhino in its natural environment. But not only that, we have a host of other wildlife and bird species, including the stunning shoebill stork.

The Big 5

What are the big 5? On an African safari vacation, the ‘Big 5’ are the key animals that you would hope to see in their natural environment. The African animal royalty, if you like. They are: The African Lion; The African Leopard, The African Elephant; The African Buffalo; and The Rhinoceros.

Due to poaching in the 1980’s and 1990’s, the rhino had become extinct in Uganda. Thanks to the Uganda Wildlife Authority and the Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch, there are now 34 white rhinos. Our rhino treks allow you to get up close and observe them in their natural, but protected, environment.

And to see the remaining 4 of the ‘Big 5’, you can visit Murchison Falls National Park. This wildlife-rich park covers almost 1,500 square miles and is only a short drive away from Ziwa.
