Our Growing Rhino Population

The Rhino Re-introduction Project was a joint project between Rhino Fund Uganda and the Roy family. Six southern white rhinos were introduced to Ziwa back in 2006. But, since then we have had many successful births, bringing our number to 41. Presently, Ziwa is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild.

Ziwa is conveniently located 176km (109 miles) from Kampala on the Gulu Highway heading north towards Murchison Falls National Park. If you’re driving north, you should turn left at the Nakitoma Trading centre. We are a few kilometres away.

At One With Nature

Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch offers peace and tranquillity in beautiful surroundings where you can be at one with nature. Whether you’re photographing rhinos or any of the exotic wild birds that can be found here, we’re sure you’ll find your connection to nature.

And if you’re staying in our campsite or one of our guest houses, there’s plenty of nocturnal wildlife activity too. Our infra-red night cameras frequently pick up porcupines, aardvarks and other animals going about their business.
